You are welcome and wanted here. We can't wait to meet you.
Welcome to Waco!
You've chosen a great place to spend your college and young adult years. We know you're going to have a great experience. If you're looking for a church home while you're here, a "home away from home," or a place to explore your faith, St. John is a great place to be involved.Introduce Yourself
We'd love to get to know you. Fill out whatever you are comfortable sharing, and we'll be glad to get back to you and let you know how you can get involved.About our Church
Our faith is 2,000 years old. Our thinking isn't.What is there for college-aged folks?
Let's be honest, a lot of churches treat their college students like another youth group. That's not really our calling. We want you to be a part of the whole congregation, not in a set-apart clique for your age group. We'd love for you to participate in our worship services, eat at our potlucks, ask questions in our Bible Studies and volunteer with our senior adults, our children, or our choir. You will be appreciated as a young adult here.
That being said, if there is enough interest for a separate college-aged Bible Study or fellowship group, our pastor would be happy to form one, studying any topic you'd like.
What is the United Church of Christ?
We're part of a "uniting" Church formed in 1957 with the merger of the Christian Congregational Churches and the German Evangelical and Reformed Synod. This means we are blessed to claim a distinctive heritage across languages, people, and places. Therefore, taking from the four titles of the traditions which came before us, you might describe us as a mainline American Protestant denomination that is Christian, Congregationally-governed, Evangelical Protestant, and Progressively Reformed in outlook. Our denomination's website can help explain the details.Inclusion Statement:
We witness to God's love and grace for persons of every race, gender, age, orientation, nationality, ethnicity, marital status, physical or mental ability, political stance, and theological perspective.
In short, you are welcome and wanted here.
Join us for worship, Sundays at 11 AM.
