St. John United Church of Christ
Who We Are:
The congregation
of St. John United Church of Christ seeks to be a
friendly Christian community where you are invited to celebrate the
good news of Jesus Christ. We seek to provide support to those in our
immediate community and in other communities where there is a need. We
affirm the freedom of each worshipper to decide what he or she believes
about the meaning of faith, while maintaining the unity of one Lord,
one faith, and one baptism.
Our Organizations:
The Women's Guild meets the first Wednesday of each month at 2:00 in the afternoon. Each meeting consists of a program, a business meeting, and ends with refreshments. The program is provided by one of the members. Currently we are studying the Apostles. During the business meeting we handle the affairs of the guild. We provide lap robes for the residents of Eden Home, baby layettes for a Waco organization, and give to various good works, to mention a few of the activities. Refreshments are also provided by members and offer an opportunity for visiting and enjoying each other's company.
The Evening Fellowship group meets first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 in the evening. The members are a blend of couples and singles who enjoy getting together to attend the same gathering. We enjoy a pot-luck meal, have a program or devotional, and then conduct the business of the group. We have supported Back Bay Mission, Eden Home, Evangelical Children's Home, and many local worthwhile organizations.
Family Fellowship occurs the second Sunday of each month at 6:00 in the evening and provides an opportunity for fellowship on a family basis. The gatherings consist of a pot-luck meal and games. It affords an opportunity for relaxed, casual fellowship.
St. John's choir has many talented members and provides an extra dimension to worship services. We feel blessed to have a choir of this caliber.
