St. John United Church of Christ

Our Pastor:

Scott Spence has been hired as Acting Interim Pastor. Scott conducted our worship service on May 8, 2011 and received many good comments from members of the congregation.

Scott was born and raised in Midlothian, Virginia. He went to Centre College, majoring in government and history. He met his wife, Tara, there and followed her to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in order for her to attend graduate school. They moved to Austin in 2006 for Scott to follow his call to ministry at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Tara is a high school math teacher in the Austin ISD. They also have a 19 month old daughter named Leah. Scott says Leah's main hobbies are running, playing, and chasing her cats.

Scott is currently under the care of the Brazos Association of the UCC. He has one year remaining in seminary. He feels blessed to be a part of the life of St. John UCC. He knows that with God's help we can truly live out the Gospel to Robinson and the world.

He plans to arrive in Robinson on Friday evenings, do visits and keep the church office open on Saturdays, and conduct worship services and attend council meetings on Sundays before returning to Austin. We are excited to have Scott serve as our Acting Interim Pastor. We are confident that he will bring a new vitality and energy to St. John. His first Sunday with us will be May 29th.
